Today, in a meeting with my boss and another one of the directors in our divison, we got on the topic of Facebook, and how I had started using it in our program to contact students. I told them they could look at mine since they don’t have one yet. I told them about several campus administrators I knew were on Facebook and that my folks are on there too!
Shortly after that meeting my boss called and told me she was going to some conference, and needed to get signed up for Facebook because of it.
Tomorrow afternoon I’m giving her a Facebook tutorial.
Oh gosh, how did it go? Because I’ve had to give 1,000 Facebook tutorials to all of the OLD profs in my department. Seriously… lost like a whole week’s worth of productivity to it.
I must admit it went fairly well. But I’m not sure she really “gets it”. So far, only about 30 minutes of time spent. Explaining all the facets really gets tough…pages, fans, friends, the wall, groups, status updates, pictures, events…you know what it’s like…i didn’t even mention the chat features!
