I’ve only won one contest online before and oddly enough (and it was not rigged!) it was hosted by my friend Cherrye at My Bella Vita. But I’m feeling happy these days so I’m following Swistle’s lead and hosting my own Pay It Forward contest in conjunction with her Group Pay it Forward effort. I am offering up a mystery prize to the winner. All you have to do is….
1. Comment on this post before midnight, central standard time on July 4th. It can be any comment at all. But to take the pressure off, I’ll give you a topic. Last weekend I went to see Carrie Underwood in concert. It was really fun. So tell me, what is the most memorable concert you’ve attended?
2. I will randomly select a winner (via some random number generator thingy). If you win, you commit to Pay it Forward, hosting a future contest on your blog where you send someone a mystery prize to a random commenter. If you do not have a blog, you can still enter. If I choose a blogless commenter as the winner, I will send you your mystery prize, then I will choose another commenter randomly so you have someone to send your gift to, and keep the Pay it Forward love going.
I hope you understand the rules, since this is my first contest. More or less, just post a comment and you are entered. I’ll tell you what to do next if you win. Click HERE to visit Swistle’s blog to see who else is hosting contests this week!
Ok, I will committ to pay it forward. I don’t know what I will give away yet though. This could get fun! Since I live in Texas now, I could send some freeze dried Texas BBQ, a box of frozen jalepeno poppers, a box of fried crawfish and a boudain ball! What do you think?
Oh yeah…most memorable concert, my “other” sister showed up as the John Mayer concert me and E attended. She was still in high school but didn’t mind getting hammered right in front of me. My dad also thought that E was going to propose to me that night and was super clingy when I left, hugging me and kissing me and telling me he loved me. The next day, he called me into his office and gave the 3rd degree about what happened the night before. I assumed he wanted to know about my sister boozing it up big time but he wanted to know if I got engaged that night. The brains run on my mom’s side, not my dad’s, and I think my sister’s brain came from his side of the family!
When I was in high school Tiffany came to our school and did a concert. It was my first concert ever and it was SO cool. Tiffany. Remember her???
Brooke..I remember you telling me about John Mayer. I think Garth Brooks on my 17th birthday was my favorite concert. But John Mayer is a close second.
Aimee, thanks for stopping by. Yes I remember Tiffany…I LOVED “I think we’re alone now”!
Ahhh memories.
My first concert was to see Sting … but my favorite concert was seeing the Barenaked Ladies.
Ummmm….con..certs…
Apparently they’re not memorable for me. I think i’ve been to like 3 ever. sad.
oooh good topic! most memorable was my first bon jovi concert (i love him) but BEST was regina spektor (love her too, actually. just in less of a i-want-to-have-sex-with-her way).
Talk about random…my most memorable concert experience is a tie between Incubus at XFest and NSYNC on their last and final tour…I can’t believe I just made that info public knowledge…LOL
I saw Jewel in conert at the Superdome in New Orleans in 10th grade. It was awesome, especially after what happened during Katrina. I still love her to this day.
OOOH! Good question…I totally remember going to see Corey Hart in concert with my mom and my aunt when I was 14, but I think the Sting/Annie Lennox concert I went to with my husband a couple of years ago was my favourite by far.
Ha- my first concert was Stryper at Radio City Music Hall. I think Billy Joel and Bon Jovi have been my favorites.
Faith Hill and Tim McGraw’s Soul to Soul concerts!
My first concert was when I was 13. I went to see The Bangles. Jimmy Buffett was a fun one.
I saw Tom Petty and the Wallflowers when I was in college with my then-boyfriend (now husband) and we were so in loooove that we just thought it was the best night ever.
My first concert was Michael Bolton. . . ugh. . . that sounds so cheesy. Whatever, I was in 5th grade and went with my mom.
My favorite concert memory was Ludacris in College Station, Texas! Even Luda commented about how many white people were there! haha
Ooo, I saw Paula Cole in Columbus OH in 1996/7 for $3 and it was so good (not as good as the first concert of hers I saw in 1994 but really good). Plus, it was my first date with a guy I’d go on to date for almost two years and IT WAS A GOOD DATE. Mmmmm.
Probably Dixie Chicks, because it was my first. But I also really loved Muse, and I’m looking forward to Coldplay in November!
Amy Grant did an awesome concert. Seriously. I also had a great time at Blue Man Group!
Prince. When I was about 15 or 16. Incredible. Even despite the women behind us who told us we should sit back down in our seats rather than dance. Sit down? at Prince? please.
I love the barenaked ladies, so my favorite concert was my first time seeing them from the front row. I even caught a guitar pick!
Kansas. In concert at the Nebraska State Fair. They’re “oldies” but goodies!
I’m so excited about all your most memorable concerts. Bon Jovi, the Barenaked Ladies, Ludacris! , Prince, Amy Grant, Dixie Chicks, Coldplay, Muse, Paula Cole, Michael Bolton, Tom Petty, Regina Specktor, Jimmy Buffet, the Bangles, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Incubus, NSync, Jewel, Billy Joel, Annie Lenox, Sting, Corey Hart, Stryper….These are all awesome and I’m super jealous of some of you. I can’t wait to hear what other bloggers most memorable concerts are!
So, I am slightly worried I will win like 15 of these contests and have to Pay it Forward 15 separate times? But then I decided that is arrogant and the gods really don’t like me that much.
Or hate me that much. But hey! I am entered, yes?
I’m not really big into concerts…I know, I’m a mega geek. But if it makes me any less of a mega geek, I think that Carrie Underwood is a concert that I would enjoy!
Do you want to know about the time in high school when my boyfriend-of-the-moment took me to Bob Seger? He was stoned, his friend was drunk, and I was sober. And the seats were BEHIND the stage.
Or how about the time I went to see Aerosmith and some guy elbowed me in the nose?
The first time I saw Dar Williams in concert it was practically a religious experience for me (she’s my favorite); it was on a side stage at Lilith Fair.
Hmm most memorable concert? That would be George Strait. He kissed mah hand ::goes all aflutter::
US Festival (yes, that dates me, I was very young) But Bowie, U2 (before they were famous), the Stray Cats. oh, man what fun that was.
Damn you all with your demanding questions. Just kidding. Gavin DeGraw did a concert when I was at summer camp. But I wasn’t picked to go. The injustice made it memorable.
[…] don’t forget to enter my Pay it Forward contest to win a fabulous mystery prize HERE. Posted in Miscellaneous, Travel […]
I guess the most memorable concert was Billy Joel…I saw him 2 years ago after wanting to see him for soooo long (like my entire life. Awesome concert!!
I’d have to say going to see Pulp back in ’95 when BritPop was really coo
Most memorable concert was definitely the blues festival in town a few years ago. BB King was there.
Milli Vanilli and MC Hammer!
Don’t judge me, I’m already embarrassed that I just openly admitted that!!!
The first concert I went to was Bon Jovi and I was in 7th grade so it stuck with me. But more recently, The Blue Man Group was great.
One time I saw Alanis Morrisette in an outdoor venue in Austin. I was there with my boyfriend and we made out the whole time. Totally awesome.
Most *memorable* (not necessarily “best”) was George Clinton & P-Funk, when I came down with an ear infection that affected my sense of balance and gave my severe vertigo. I left early, it took me 30 minutes to make the 7 minute walk home, where I lay down in bed, and my neighbors threw a KEG THROUGH MY BEDROOM WALL (our shared wall from their apartment), and then there was a household of college-aged drunk men peering through a hole in my bedroom at me, in my skivvies.
Bare Naked Ladies. Those fellas are hilarious.
I’m gonna have to go with the Carrie Underwood/Keith Urban I saw in March. Amazing!!!
oar. i totally have not been to many concerts – carrie underwood and keith urban would rock!
My 15th birthday I saw Reba (for the 3rd time) and went backstage… And she sang to me! She sang Happy Birthday. To Me. It was Awesome. 😀
i have seen jay z twice. i just love him!
Of all concerts, a John Fogerty concert. I nearly got taken in by the rent-a-cops for underage drinking and saw someone getting a BJ during “Centerfield.”
I really enjoyed seeing Reba in February!
I haven’t been to many concerts, but I did enjoy Bon Jovi about two years ago!
Backstreet Boys. It was my first concert, I was 15 years old, and I was living it up that night with 5 other girl friends.
I saw Willie Nelson when I was a very little girl, but I think there was more marijuana smoke in the air there than at the Black Crowes concert I went to many years later.
My most memorable concert was James Taylor
I’ve seen Willy Porter play live several times and he’s always awesome.
Definitely NKOTB!!
I am soooo jealous, I puffy, pink heart her.
Okay, best consert ever- KISS. I am not kidding. They put on an amazing show. Really.
It is kinda hard to pick just one as I have seen a katrillion concerts. That would be before I had bebe’s, naturally!
My best concert ever was Garth Brooks. He puts on a really good show.
Thanks for having a contest!
New Kids on the Block was my very first contest ever and perhaps my most memorable one ever.
Genesis. I hadn’t heard of them before, but my friends had an extra ticket and I went along. Ah, the start of a life-long love affair with their music.
Ben Folds. Awwww, yeah.
I just loved the Indigo Girls.
pick em! pick me! pick me!!! best concert would have to be def lepard/journey last summer
I would hold a contest if I won, not sure what I’d do yet.
Um, I don’t usually go to concerts, but in high school we went to see Christian rock artist Rebecca St. James at least 3 times.
Front Row, Center seats at an outdoor concert by the Dave Matthews Band. Especially great because I’m sure I had eye contact with Dave, the one man I would leave my husband and children for!
I love Swistle and her great ideas!
My FIRST concert was New Kids on the Block. We were in the 5th row, and I felt SO COOL.
