First I need to get this off my chest. It really bugs me that Yahoo will show some headlines for days in a row, but the ones that I want to reference are only a memory a mere 3 hours after I first saw it.

That being said…I know it’s not nice to laugh at the expense of others, but when I saw the story on Yahoo about the 3-year old kid from Minnesota who won the Minnesota Mullet competition I seriously laughed out loud. (For your viewing pleasure, I managed to find the picture and article NOT on Yahoo.)

Hockey Hair, a.k.a. the Wisconsin Waterfall, a.k.a. business-in-the-front-party-in-the-back, a.ka. the mullet, whatever you call it, pretty much is guaranteed to make me laugh. And this kid who won the competition (I’m not sure what the judging criteria could be for a mullet competition) was only 3. AND he apparently is a LEGACY, with his older brother winning the title several years before AND his father sporting a mullet in his younger days. WOW…what a family accomplishment. Poor kid. He’s either going to A. always get crap from EVERYONE about being the mullet winner (forever!). or B. always get crap from EVERYONE about being the mullet winner and develop a complex from it. Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t imagine anything good comes from winning that title. And if you clicked on the link, you’ll see he’s actually a cute little kid. Someone needs to do an E True Hollywood story about the mullet kids and where are they now. Poor poor kid.

PS…wikipedia says in Italy a mullet is sometimes known as “alla McGyver.” Cherrye, have you heard of this?

(For more information on the history and variations of the mullet go here or simply google mullet.  If you are as easily amused as I am, I guarantee laughs.  Otherwise, if you don’t find mullets funny, don’t blame me.)
